The taxi option
A licensed taxi rank sits right outside Chopin arrivals. For a simple daytime trip into the centre it is cheap and immediate — typically 50–70 PLN to Śródmieście with a licensed city taxi. The trade-offs: no one meets you inside, the fare runs on a meter that traffic can inflate, you do not know which car or driver you will get, and if your flight is late nobody is tracking it.
The chauffeur option
A pre-booked chauffeur costs more — from around 180 PLN in an E-Class — but the price is fixed before you travel and the experience is different. Your driver waits inside arrivals with a name sign, helps with luggage, and the vehicle is a known, spotless Mercedes with Wi-Fi and water. Your flight is tracked, so a delay simply moves the pickup and you still get 60 minutes of complimentary waiting.
So which is cheaper?
Honestly, the taxi — for one person, in daylight, with hand luggage and no schedule pressure. The balance tips toward a chauffeur when the arrival matters: a client or executive to impress, a family with luggage, a late-night landing, a group, or simply wanting zero uncertainty after a long flight.
When each one wins
- Taxi: solo, daytime, budget-first, flexible on timing.
- Chauffeur: business or VIP arrivals, families and groups, late flights, or any trip where a fixed price and a guaranteed meet & greet are worth the difference.
